The Greater Anglewing Katydids definitely seem to be out in force tonight. That or they just like the Sweet Team.
We heard one at the Summit Community Gardens, which sounded like it was in a tree, one near the Backyard Garden, and at least three from the Urban Meadow, which used to be a vacant lot (how cool is that! They turned the lot into a meadow. Nice.) . All of these within a few blocks of each other. Maybe they know something we don’t know……….(aliens?, Nah)
The Urban Meadow also had a lot of other crickets and katydids actively calling, but unfortunately they weren’t calls that any of us could ID. Definitely need a “stridulation” expert for identifying everything in this area.
